The Future Is Human

Human Sustainability Awareness Campaign

Join us on September 16th for the first annual Human Sustainability Awareness Day. This new, nationally registered holiday is dedicated to recognizing and addressing the growing crisis of human sustainability.

Our goal is for one million to take action, whether for themselves, their families, or for others, to help create a more human and sustainable future.

The Crisis of Human Sustainability

The perfect storm of three crises that have converged at the same time.

The Mobility Crisis

A degree no longer provides a reliable foothold into the work world. Clear career ladders no longer exist as they used to, and now, hard work and loyalty no longer guarantee that you will not be laid off or replaced by AI. Many now say that despite doing everything right, they are working harder but feel stuck in place or going backward.

The Insecurity Crisis

People are worried about the increasing cost of living, and their dwindling savings. They worry that even if they just get by today, they know they are vulnerable to meeting the demands of tomorrow. They live in a state of pervasive life insecurity about their personal and economic well being.

The Uncertainty Crisis

Uncertainty and the faster pace of unexpected change and disruption are the new context and backdrop for our lives. Now, we are experiencing more and more devastating, hard, impossible-to-predict, once-in-a-generation occurrences happening one right after the other or all at once.

The Crisis In Numbers

50

%

Opportunity

Nearly 70% of U.S. adults believe the American dream of hard work leading to success is no longer true, a 15-year high for this pessimism.

40

%

Financial

The bottom 60% of US households do not earn enough to afford a “minimal quality of life” and 50% of families live paycheck to paycheck.

61

%

Career

81% of US workers worried about job loss in 2025, and 40% of white-collar job seekers in 2024 failed to secure a single interview.

70

%

Mental

90% of people believe we are in a mental health crisis, and 79%  report being burned out. Financial issues are the #1 cause of anxiety for Americans.

55

%

Outlook

75% of Americans see little hope for improving their economic status a 35 year high, with 45% saying it will get worse over the next year.

Many people, regardless of their income level, age, or profession, live with a constant financial, career, mental, and overall life insecurity as a result of the cost of living crisis, broken career paths, as well as the mental and lifestyle crises they face. This impacts their standard of living, quality of life, and overall well-being.

In Their Voices

Just as we recognize conditions that are harmful to our environment and planet, people are now living in economic and lifestyle conditions that are toxic to their sustainability & well-being.
